Adani Group Commits ₹2 Lakh Crore to Massive Power Expansion

During its highly anticipated Annual General Meeting in June 2026, the Adani Group unveiled a highly aggressive capital expenditure roadmap, signaling its intent to dominate India’s infrastructure and energy sectors. Adani Power announced a staggering capex program exceeding ₹2 lakh crore (over ₹200,000 crore) to be deployed over the next five years. This massive financial commitment is squarely aimed at scaling the conglomerate’s total power generation capacity to an unprecedented 45 GW, up from its current 18 GW footprint.

In a major strategic pivot, the group also formally announced its entry into the nuclear energy sector. Operating through a newly established subsidiary, Adani Atomic Energy Limited (AAEL), the conglomerate has set a long-term target of establishing 10 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2035. This pivot aligns with India’s broader national push towards cleaner baseload energy and positions Adani to capitalize on progressive coastal atomic energy projects over the next decade.

Transforming Transit Hubs into ‘Airport Cities’

Parallel to the power sector expansion, the conglomerate’s aviation arm, Adani Airport City Limited (AACL), introduced a transformative vision for India’s major transit hubs. The company has allocated an initial investment of ₹20,000 crore for the first phase of its ambitious “Airport Cities” project. This initiative will develop integrated, mixed-use aerotropolises surrounding six major airports currently managed by Adani, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Ahmedabad.

The Airport Cities project encompasses the development of over 655 acres of prime land into approximately 22 million square feet of commercial space. Drawing inspiration from global models like Singapore’s Changi Airport, these developments will feature highly integrated hospitality, retail, office, and entertainment zones seamlessly connected to airport terminals. By transforming these regional transit hubs into premium commercial destinations, the Adani Group aims to drastically boost non-aeronautical revenues and redefine the urban landscape surrounding India’s busiest airports.
