Transition Facilitation Order 2026 Aims to Reduce Compliance Friction
The Government of India has introduced the Transition Facilitation (Quality Control) Order, 2026, providing an alternative compliance pathway for several sectors, including toys, air conditioners, and furniture. The initiative is designed to ease regulatory compliance and support domestic supply chains without compromising product safety.
Alternative Self-Declaration Scheme II Allowed for Eligible Firms
Under the new five-year transition framework, eligible manufacturers can procure parts or sell products using Scheme II (self-declaration of compliance) instead of the more rigorous Scheme I, which requires Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) factory inspections. The relaxation is available to manufacturers with a consistent three-year record of compliance.
