TATA Motors has officially unveiled the ‘Nexon.ev Lite’, a new affordable electric SUV priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, aimed at accelerating mass market adoption of electric vehicles in India.
The new model features a 30kWh battery pack with a certified range of 325 km on a single charge. It maintains the 5-star GNCAP safety rating that the Nexon brand is known for, while introducing a more cost-effective motor and interior materials.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of TATA Motors Passenger Vehicles, said the Nexon.ev Lite is designed to address the price barrier that has kept many Indian families from switching to EVs. The company aims to have 50% of its sales come from EVs by 2030.
TATA Motors currently holds over 70% share of the Indian electric passenger vehicle market. The new launch is seen as a strategic move to defend its leadership against emerging competition from Mahindra and global players like BYD.
Pre-bookings for the Nexon.ev Lite open today, with deliveries expected to commence by the end of next month across all major Indian cities.
