Bharti Airtel has announced an ambitious ₹20,000 crore investment plan for its financial services arm, Airtel Money. The investment follows the company’s receipt of a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) license from the RBI, allowing it to move beyond wallet services into direct digital lending. Bharti Airtel will contribute 70% of the capital, with the promoter group providing the remaining 30%. The focus will be on leveraging its 500+ data scientists and massive telecom user base to offer tailored credit solutions to underserved Indian consumers.
