Commercial LPG Cylinder Rates Revised Upwards
State-run Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have increased the price of 19-kg commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders by ₹42, effective immediately. The price adjustment will raise commercial cylinder rates to ₹1,830 in Delhi and ₹1,940 in Kolkata, reflecting higher import costs and international gas price trends. Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.
The price hike is expected to increase operational costs for the hospitality and food service industries, including hotels, restaurants, and street food vendors. Industry associations suggest that the cumulative impact of rising commercial fuel and food ingredient prices may force establishments to raise menu prices, adding to retail food inflation.

OMC Financial Performance and Subsidy Recoveries
The OMCs stated that the price revision is necessary to cover under-recoveries in their commercial divisions, which operate under market-linked pricing. While domestic LPG continues to receive government support, commercial gas rates are adjusted monthly based on international benchmarks. Financial analysts note that the pricing flexibility helps OMCs maintain margins amid volatile global energy rates.
