In a major victory for the state exchequer, the Haryana Government has successfully recovered ₹578 crore from IDFC First Bank following a fraud case that came to light earlier this month. The recovery, which includes ₹556 crore of principal amount and ₹22 crore in accrued interest, was completed within 24 hours of the incident being reported. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini confirmed that the funds have been credited back to the accounts of various state departments and boards. The case involved fraudulent transactions at the bank’s Chandigarh branch, leading to the suspension of several employees and a high-level probe into the collusive operation.
