Reliance Jio has announced that its 5G network now covers over 1,000 cities and towns across India, making it one of the fastest 5G rollouts in telecom history globally.
The milestone comes just 27 months after the initial 5G launch, with Jio investing over Rs 1.5 lakh crore in spectrum and infrastructure. The company now boasts over 150 million 5G subscribers.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, stated that Jio’s 5G True network delivers speeds up to 1 Gbps, enabling new use cases in education, healthcare, and entertainment. The company plans to cover all of India’s 200,000+ villages by 2027.
Jio’s aggressive expansion has intensified competition in the telecom sector, with Bharti Airtel accelerating its own 5G rollout. Industry experts estimate India will have 500 million 5G users by 2028.
The company also announced new 5G-enabled services including cloud gaming, 4K video streaming, and AR/VR applications for enterprise customers.
