India’s iPhone Exports to Exceed $23 Billion in 2025, Driven by Apple’s Strategic Shift

The ‘Make in India’ Triumph

India is on track to cement its position as a global electronics manufacturing hub, with iPhone exports projected to surpass $23 billion in 2025. This historic milestone underscores the success of the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and a deliberate supply chain diversification by global tech giants.

Apple’s Dominance in Exports

Apple now single-handedly accounts for a staggering 75% of India’s total smartphone exports. The localized manufacturing push, spearheaded by contract manufacturers like Foxconn, Pegatron, and increasingly the Tata Group, has drastically reduced Apple’s reliance on China.

Economic Impact

The surge in iPhone exports has created tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, upgraded local manufacturing skillsets, and significantly narrowed India’s electronics trade deficit. If the current trajectory holds, India is poised to represent nearly a quarter of all global iPhone production by the end of the decade.
